I am trying to install mint (tried versions 18.0 and 19.0) on a laptop with hybrid Nvidia/intel graphics. I created a boot stick with rufus. After booting mint with live usb, the screen freezes. I did some research and probably the graphics card causes the problem. I followed the installation guide on https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/boot_options.html and
replaced in the grub menu (EFI mode) quiet splash with nomodesetandand nouveau.noaccel=1 respectively. But I always get a black screen after that. When I try compatibility mode, no graphical interface is loaded at all (just the terminal is displayed where i have to enter username which is mint) . Should I install the Mint GUI (e.g. Cinnamon) just from terminal in compatibility mode? Or does anyone have a clue how I could solve the black screen problem?
