I had upgraded my Linux Mint 18.3 to Linux Mint 19. I followed the instructions provided by the Linux Mint blog. When I finished the installation process and rebooted the system, I am unable to login!
I had the login screen requesting entering my password. After entering my password and hitting the enter button, the screen turned out dark, then it showed me again the login screen requesting entering my password.
This situation has been repeated every time I enter my password and hit the enter button. Does any one know how I can solve this problem?

You know you could easily switch to console with Ctrl + Alt + F1 for instance and provide any and all information you come over?

The same exact issue was described in linux Mint forum, and here
Hit ctrl + alt + f1 to get into teletype TTY before the login screen and then run apt-get update.
I did what you told me, but still I can't login.
