I'm setting up a server with an external eSATA disk array to serve files for a small network. Using Slackware or Ubuntu (I'm not that deep in yet) with kernel 4.4 or 4.15. The system sees the disk array fine if it is setup in a raid mode that presents the disks in a single volume. What I'd like to do is run the array in JBOD mode (which it supports) so I can setup a ZFS pool to manage storage across the individual disks. Unfortunately, when the disk array is set up this way, the system can only see one of the disks and seems to have no knowledge of the rest in the array according to dmesg, and querying the files in /proc. Is there something that can be done so the system sees the rest of the disks or is this a limitation of the SATA controller on this system?
