I am installing Arch by this guide here (in german): https://wiki.archlinux.de/title/Anleitung_f%C3%BCr_Einsteiger#Netzwerkverbindung_herstellen

I established an internet connection and successfully pinged. When using pacstrap /mnt base-devel the process is terminated with a weird error message I do not understand.

error: failed retrieving file `m4-1.4.18-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz` from ftp.uni bayreuth.de : failed writing body (1468 != 5760) ---------------] 0%

I pinged those "failing" mirrors and they all respond. The last error message tells something about an exceeded download size.

  • That error (the first ones) means there is insufficient space on the target filesystem.

  • whats best to check the size? because I am sure I baked the partition with 20G when creating it with fdisk

    From the live medium, check the size, filesystem, and confirm you have mounted it to the correct mountpoint (trying to pacstrap to the image would probably send the same error).

  • Look in Archlinux community. I think it's the same problem. Probably, your are installing Archlinux in a different partition as boot.Could you put here the commands mount, df -h and fdisk -l?
