To allow me to see thumbnails on my Linux mint system I follow the instructions at this link. https://askubuntu.com/a/427067/349972

It worked like a charm and I was immediately able to see thumbnails on my .NEF files. but now if I double click on a file to open it in the image viewer I am only able to view the thumbnail version, 160 px wide. The properties of the file such as size continue to be listed like full size raw files. But opening the files even in the command line as follows, gives a 160x120 image.

gimp ~/path/1234.nef

Does anyone in any ideas for what I should check to get normal functionality back where I can open my nef files by double-clicking in nemo?

Running Linux Mint 18.3
