I'm currently using debian buster with budgie. In my budgie panel I'm using the appmenu applet. When I start sublime text through the .desktop file (plank or budgie launcher) the appmenu of sublime doesn't appear in the budgie appmenu applet, nevertheless, when I run sublime using the terminal, running subl or /opt/sublime_text/sublime_text the appmenu shows in the applet just fine.
Is there any way that I can reproduce the behavior that executing from terminal is having in the .desktop file? Perhaps an environment variable that I should add?
The problem exist also with sublime merge.

  • What appmenu package are you using? There is an appmenu for GNOME and an appmenu for Budgie, however the latter is only available in Sid...

  • I installed budgie-appmenu-applet to provide the applet in budgie panel, I also installed appmenu-gtk2-module and appmenu-gtk3-module.

  • Are you running Debian Sid or testing? AFAIK those packages are not in stable, and if you are using Budgie from stable it may not be up-to-date enough to be compatible with the Appmenu. Appmenu was originally a GNOME only thing and thus conflicted with Budgie's GTK settings.
