I have a small laptop with a tiny hard drive that Windows 10 has filled up. Want to install a Linux (Ubuntu) image over the top (overwrite) the existing Win 10 OS. Only have USB ports (No CD/DVD) to install. Have copied an ISO to USB drive using Universal USB Installer http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ and cannot get the BIOS to recognize the USB drive at boot, even after changing the boot menu. Suggestions?

UEFI is the installation.

Just throwing out ideas since I don't have enough to go on for a full answer, but did you disable fast boot and secure boot? Take a look at the General Principles here: help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI

If that doesn't work, try using Rufus, which is recommended by Ubuntu to create your live usb. In my experience (with true Debian), the image writer can and will cause issues if you use the wrong one: tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/â¦
