Manjaro freezes after resuming from suspend

I'm running Manjaro on a Thinkpad P51 (i7, NVIDIA M1200) with i3 window manager. I'm using the proprietary nvidia drivers and bumblebee. Everything (I believe) is up to date.
Whenever I close the lid of the computer, when I open it the screen is frozen, showing whatever I was doing prior to closing the lid.
The only way to get out of this is to reboot. The same issue happens if I suspend via sudo systemctl suspend. It's probably not an i3 specific issue, as it also occurs when I'm on the login page.
Any ideas what could be causing this problem?
