The Iran Men's National Volleyball Team is the national men's volleyball team of Iran. It is governed by the Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (I.R.I.V.F.) and takes part in international volleyball competitions.


They are currently the strongest team in Asia. As of July 2017, Iran ranks 8th in the FIVB World Rankings.


Iran has twice won the Asian Championship in 2011 Tehran, and 2013 Dubai for the second time.


Iran in their first appearance in the competition since joining the 2013 World League, have been a dominant force in Group 1 of the competition, providing a challenge for any opponent. Iran in this year winner match in contrast Italy and Cuba.


Iran including their 2014 World League campaign, culminating in a fourth place finish in Group 1 following a straight-set defeat to their Italian hosts in the bronze medal match, Iran reach 4th place in the competitions. Iran in the year winner match against Brazil, Italy and Poland.


Iran in World Championship, who qualified in September 2013, have competed in four previous World Championships foremost result 2014 Poland 6th place. Iran in 2014 World Championship the first and second rounds with four and five wins had climbed to the next step. Iran at the pre-final games, in contrast France has failed.


They also defeated Japan to win the gold medal at the Asian Games Korea in 2014.[1]


Iran made it to the Olympic Games for the first time in their history in 2016 as the top ranked Asian squad at the World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan.[2][3] They finished at the 5th place in the competitions.[4]

History


The History of Iran’s Volleyball dates back to 1920 around ago when brought volleyball regulations to Iran.
During the World War II, forces of Allies occupied Iran, sport Contacts especially in volleyball was done with soldiers of these forces; it was a new way for familiarity with volleyball of the other countries. At that time a friendly match was fixed between Iran and Russian Army team.
In 1958 for the first time national men’s team of Pakistan was invited to Tehran, guest team had some friendly matches with national team, club teams and Army team.
