I have a problem with mounting cifs share from windows 2k8 R2 on RHEL 5.3.
When I'm trying to mount share I'm getting error mount error 112 = Host is down. Other win machines can access this share without any problems.
I can ping this machine and telnet to 139 port. I can even access to this share with smbclient but only on FQDN hostname(when Iam using IPaddr it failed).
My mount command: mount -t cifs -v -o domain=mydom,username=myuser,password=mypass //my_win_share/dir /mount_point. SMBClient command: smbclient -L my_win_share --port=139 -U mydom/myuser
I tried to mount this share with option vers=2.0 and vers=2.1 but there is the same error.
Any ideas what is going on?

  • Your ancient, unsupported version of rhel has an ancient, unsupported version of samba that uses a protocol that isn’t supported anymore in Windows. Try installing RHEL6 or 7.
