Why do KDE applications present a warning about a GNOME icon theme when run?

I'm running KDE Neon with Plasma 5. When I use yakuake
to run ksysguard
via the command line to monitor system processes and performance, the application does run, but I get this message in the terminal as well:
Icon theme "gnome" not found.
I also get this error running kmail
and okular
- in fact, it occurs with and only with KDE programs. (It even happens running yakuake
or konsole
from yakuake
.) It's not restricted to yakuake
either - the same warning is displayed running KDE apps from konsole
.
My current icon theme is Papirus, which I downloaded and installed myself using the "Get new themes" KDE menu. I've never installed the GNOME theme, as far as I can remember.
I installed yakuake
and kmail
myself, but okular
and konsole
were installed with the OS (packaged with Neon).
What do these programs want to find the "gnome"
icon theme for?
command-line gnome kde icons
