I had already this problem with sparkylinux. Trying to install this other distribution I broke windows, so now I'm trying to install Linux Mint using a USB.
It all works but when the installation ends and I reboot the system, it reboots into the USB live installation.

maybe you forgot to remove the flash drive from the USB port

When should I remove it. Before rebooting, before the installation or whatever?

you are not thinking clearly .... how can you install linux if you remove the flash drive before installation? ............. you installed linux on the hard drive, i assume ... don't you think that you should boot from the hard drive?
