Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64bit
Mint Version 3.6.7
Kernel 4.10.0-38-generic

HP Notebook 15

Output of lspci -nn | grew 0280
'02:00.0 Network controller [0280] : Realtek Semixonductor Co., LTD RTL8188EE Wireless Network Adapter [10ec:8179] (rev 01)'

I can't even see network access points in the manager. Connecting by cable isn't an option, unfortunately.

I have already checked to see the soft and hard blocks and they are set to no. That tends to be a problem with HPs.

I tried running
'echo "options rtl8188ee swenc=Y ips=N" | sudo tee etc/modprobe.d/rtl8188ee.conf'
That didn't work.

I added the following to my /etc/modprobe.d/ilwifi.conf
'iwlwifi 11n_disable'
'iwlwifi swcrypto=1'
That didn't work.
