How to backup my LUKS encrypted system to an external drive

I run Manjaro Linux on a LUKS encrypted hard drive in my laptop. What is the best way to backup the whole system to an external drive in order to be able to restore it as a whole once needed?

Your question is too broad and shows very little effort / research on your part. There are tons of backup options. Back up what ? Entire system ? User data ? boot ? partition scheme ? encrypted or unecnrypted ? What have you tried? what problem have you had ?
