Crouton Unity - No Launcher, No Dash, No Terminal

I've installed crouton on my Chromebook(Dell Chromebook 13), and run xfce4 successfully(using sudo startxfce4). However, whenever I attempt to run Unity(sudo startunity), I come across a blank screen. No launchers, nothing. I can only access basic settings, and have already changed the resolution, to no success. I've read this article, as well as this one; however, I am unable to access the command line. Alt - F2, Ctrl - Alt - F key, and Ctrl - Alt - T have done nothing. I created a desktop link to xterm; however, whenever I attempt to open it, Unity tells me the link is broken. Other sources have said to convert from the beta channel to the stable channel; however, the problem persists.
