My Kali Linux installation doesn't work without adding 'nomodeset' to the grub file (yes, I know it's Kali and that it's #NotForNoobs but I need it for a course). Anyway, I've noticed that with nomodeset added I can't change the brightness or turn on nightlight.
After asking around, I learnt that nomodeset is more like a stopgap to learn the actual cause of why I can't boot without adding it to the grub file. Someone told me that I should look in the log files to know what's wrong, however, trying to make sense of the log files was a bit too much to handle and I'm looking for some help in solving this issue.
The issue is that without adding nomodeset to the grub file, the computer boots into a black screen and freezes (I see a cursor but can't move it). With nomodeset, the screen is at full brightness and it burns my eyes. How can I solve this problem?
ANY help is appreciated. Thanks!
