I am new to using the linux terminal on ubuntu 12.04. I want to use the host
command to find the ip address of a domain. For example, when I try host www.microsoft.com
it displays ip alias. When I try host microsoft.com
it displays microsoft.com has address ipaddress
, 5 times each entry with a unique ip address. I know that microsoft may have many ip addresses, which way would be "correct?" Also does is ping domain
a better way?
