OS info -- macOS Sierra 10.12.6

Python 2.7.13 using virtual env Brew install pygobject was successful but pip install appkit fails with the following errors --

Collecting appkit Using cached AppKit-0.2.8.tar.gz

Requirement already satisfied: flask in ./lib/python2.7/site-packages (from appkit)
Collecting pygobject (from appkit) Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement pygobject (from appkit) (from versions: )
No matching distribution found for pygobject (from appkit)

I want to (from appkit) import NSWorkspace and use it for writing some applications.
