I have an interesting issue with SLiM that I cannot seem to solve.
I have a default (meaning, I haven't done any customization or thememing) SLiM install that works with the exception of failed logins. What happens is that if I fail to authenticate properly, the very next attempt goes to a text based login for a couple of seconds and then back to the SLiM login screen. Then I login for the third time and it works properly, I can get to my XFCE desktop.
Summary:
- Login 1 - Incorrect Credentials -> Fail (as expected)
- Login 2 - Correct Credentials -> Goes to Text Login and back to SLiM
- Login 3 - Correct Credentials -> Goes to XFCE Desktop
My ~/.xinitrc
is very basic with just the following line:
exec $1
This is on a FreeBSD 11-1 install running XFCE4 and SLiM 1.3.6
xorg freebsd display-manager slim
