I have once again, been blocked out from logging in so I prepared to do what I did last time and I deleted all of my GNOME configuration files. This did not work, so I logged into root and checked journalctl to see what it came up with:

Jan 30 15:27:35 me gnome-session[11390]: gnome-session-binary[11390]: WARNING: IceLockAuthFile failed: Permission denied
Jan 30 15:27:35 me gnome-session-binary[11390]: WARNING: IceLockAuthFile failed: Permission denied
Jan 30 15:27:35 me gdm-password][11370]: pam_unix(gdm-password:session): session closed for user meacc

So I looked up the error about IceLockAuthFile and Google seemed to suggest that I first try:

rm -rf ~/.ICEauthority

Nothing changed, I still get the same error in journalctl. The other option was:

sudo chown -R meacc:meacc /home/meacc

I didn't have the group meacc. I tried both root and wheel which did exist. But even then, none of those fixed the issue, I still get the same exact sequence of warnings each time I try to log in, and each time I log in the desktop crashes and I am sent back to the login screen.

Any further suggestions would be appreciated.
