I was using Debian and I decided to change to Scientific Linux 7.5. I am now stuck with installing the WiFi Driver. I followed the steps in this youtube link which is explaining how to get the WiFi driver for Fedora 25. So I followed the steps, but for CentOS 7 instead of Fedora. Yet, I was unable to accomplish the task.

  1. first of all when I used rpm -ivh code it was giving me something like that:

    [root@localhost Downloads]# rpm -i wl-kmod_30_223_271-5.el7.elrepo.nosrc.rpm
warning: user tindall does not exist - using root
warning: group tindall does not exist - using root
warning: user tindall does not exist - using root
warning: group tindall does not exist - using root
warning: user tindall does not exist - using root
warning: group tindall does not exist - using root
warning: user tindall does not exist - using root
warning: group tindall does not exist - using root
warning: user tindall does not exist - using root
warning: group tindall does not exist - using root

warning: user tindall does not exist - using root
warning: group tindall does not exist - using root
warning: user tindall does not exist - using root
warning: group tindall does not exist - using root

  2. No akmod packages found, nothing to do. [ OK ]

I am also getting this message when I run akmods which indicates that the driver has not been installed.

  3. The Broadcom I have is

    B03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Limited BCM43142 802.11b/g/n (rev 01).

My Laptop is Acer Aspire E 15 E5-571G-54CG. I am unable to download this Broadcom version because I can't find it online for my laptop.

How do install the wifi drivers for my laptop?
