I'm fighting agains my sound card (Realtek ALC3236) for several years. Each year it works a bit better, but it's still far from perfect:

  • Now, by default the internal microphone works. However, when I plug an external microphone, the microphone does not work.

  • If I put in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf the line

    options snd-hda-intel model=,dell-headset-multi

then when I plug the headphones, both the internal and external (headphone) microphone works. However, when I unplug the headphone, I'm not able to use the internal microphone... So it means that I always need to have my headphones with me, really annoying.

Here are some screenshots:

Default, no headphones in the list:
enter image description here

with options snd-hda-intel model=,dell-headset-multi without any headphone (=casque) pluged, both internal and external microphones does not work:
enter image description here

When I plug my headphones, both work (at least after I click on them):
enter image description here

Any idea how to solve that problem?

.
