Texstudio “package.sty not found” with Texlive on linux mint 19.1

I am using mint 19.1 on my laptop.

I installed TexLive and TexStudio. All the packages are downloaded in /usr/local/texlive/2018/texmf-dist/tex/latex. But whatever I try, I still have the same issue : TexStudio tells me that "File dsfont.sty not found. usepackage". I use dsfont as an exemple but it seems that it is all the same for the other packages I use.

I updated packages with tlmgr, I set the path directly in the advanced options of texstudio.

  • Did you update the TeX file database with commands like mktexlsr?

  • I have just tried what you advice, seems that nothing really happen. I just got the following message : mktexlsr: /usr/local/share/texmf: directory not writable. Skipping... mktexlsr: /var/lib/texmf: directory not writable. Skipping... mktexlsr: /var/lib/texmf: directory not writable. Skipping... mktexlsr: /var/lib/texmf: directory not writable. Skipping... mktexlsr: Done. And trying to compile my file still gives me the same error message...

  • You probably need sudo. ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1843563

  • @WeijunZhou I already tried that, but this does not really solve the problem, I still get the same error message... Maybe trying with another tex editor would lead to better results..
