How to increase the horizontal spacing around `=&' in the align environment?
Clash Royale CLAN TAG#URR8PPP
I found it too squeezed around the operators when I use align for multiple lines of equations. See the example.
beginalign*
&a + b \
=& c + d \
=& e + f
endalign*
How to increase the space around `=' to make something like
beginalign*
&a + b \
= & c + d \
= & e + f
endalign*
spacing align horizontal

Yes, that works. But I have to add for each line. Is there a command for the whole document?

You shouldn't be using such a layout to begin with.

If you want to do a "waterfall" like effect, see theMoveEqLeft
macro from mathtools

You need =&
or the space after =
will not be correct.
documentclassarticle
usepackagemathtools % also loads amsmath
begindocument
This is a wrong display
beginalign*
&a + b \
=& c + d \
=& e + f
endalign*
This is a bit better
beginalign*
&a + b \
=& c + d \
=& e + f
endalign*
but the following is even better
beginalign*
MoveEqLeft[1] a + b \
&= c + d \
&= e + f
endalign*
enddocument
I'd use such a layout only in case the top expression is very long; otherwise
beginalign*
a + b
&= c + d \
&= e + f
endalign*
is the way to go.
