systemd-timesyncd[752]: Failed to connect to bus: Permission denied

I changed the permissions on / to 751. Now I am getting the following error:
systemd-timesyncd[752]: Failed to connect to bus: Permission denied
I suppose they are related. Must I set the permissions on / back to 755? Or is there another (superior?) way to resolve this error?
