KVM/QEMU: How to tell if a domain has been saved (suspend)

How can I tell if a domain has been saved (suspend) using:
virsh save Domain statefile
I could add a custom metadata to the XML when saving the domain, but I would be surprised if it's not already registered somewhere...but maybe not?
(I'm managing my domains from scripts)
