I've been using unity (16.04) for a while and really want a tiling window manager but every WM I try is so minimalist. E.g. they have nothing like the launcher (I don't want a dock...), global application menu, missing wifi/battery/audio/volume options in the top bar, etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what combination of Desktop Environment/Window Manager I'm looking for?

You can install any applet or menu bar on almost any wm. e.g. github.com/jaagr/polybar

The real deal breaker is the lack of global application menu (where you can type to search through all the drop down menus quickly)

Rofi can provide the application menu (launcher).

dwm comes with dmenu for launching applications without needing to open a terminal; dmenu also works with other WMs
