Can I restore my RHEL 7 server after messing up partitions in fdisk?

I was attempting to change my partitions in Linux (RHEL 7) and I deleted a partition using fdisk. Then, I attempted to reboot the system.
Now, when I connect to my Linux box, I'm in a Dracut shell and cannot get back into fdisk to fix my mistake.

How can I restore my machine or reset the partitions at this point?

My original disk /dev/sda contained a /dev/sda1 boot and a /dev/sda2.

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 2048 1026047 512000 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 1026048 20889599 9931776 83 Linux LVM

I blew away sda2 and bloated sda1 to grant some more space to update my yum packages.

  • I think it would be important to know which partition you removed. How was the original partition structure laid out?

RescueCD and put the partition table back as it was

  • @TimothyPulliam I had a brainfart and don't have a backup of this box. There wasn't anything critical that was stored on this box anyway.
