I am currently helping out a friend who is migrating some of his infrastucture from VMWare to KVM an I am having trouble when migrating the machines to LVM.

I am following this guide: https://www.nnbfn.net/2011/03/convert-kvm-qcow2-to-lvm-raw-partition/ and have two issues.

I was not able to create lvm using lvcreate but was able to overcome this using -Zn at the end of the command.
Right now I have a RAW file created from a VMDK and tryig to dd it to the lvm I created earlier and everytime I get it I receive the no space left on device error. I created the lvm with the specific size of the RAW file. I am completely at a loss here, don't even know where to look for problems and which logs to view.

Output of lvs, size of source image and destination LV. What command are you using? Please put these important details onto your question.

  • Why couldn't you create the LV? What error did you get?
