I'm using following command to change position of close, minimize and maximize buttons in centos gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences button-layout "close, minimize, maximize:" however this doesn't have effect. Is it possible to somehow change position to the left? I'm used to it and it is confusing me.

I'm using

GNOME Shell 3.22.3 on CentOS Linux release 7.4.1708 (Core)

  • Does the command you wrote throw any error? What's the output of gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences button-layout after running it?
