Remap capslock key to tab with setxkbmap

I was trying to remap the <Capslock>key to the <tab> key, after some research I found out I could do;

setxkbmap -option ctrl:nocaps

Which maps the <Capslock> key to <Ctrl>.

So I tried;

setxkbmap -option tab:nocaps

and

setxkbmap -option tabulator:nocaps

but without success.

Is there an easy way to remap <Capslock> to <tab> in the terminal?

Also general systeminfo:

wm: i3
term: urxvt
x version: 1.20.3

  • There's no such option. You'll have to define it yourself... and btw, to see all available options run localectl list-x11-keymap-options
