After a dist-upgrade from stretch to buster, I don't have soundcard audio anymore.
The sound works fine through HDMI (see picture below) and even bluetooth.
The problem is getting it working with computer speakers, headset and mic.
These are the information I get about audio pci devices:
$ lspci | grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio (rev 05)
02:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1)
This is about sound cards:
$ cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [MID ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel MID
HDA Intel MID at 0xfc800000 irq 28
1 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
HDA NVidia at 0xddefc000 irq 17
What could I try to do?
Edit:
This is what hdajackretask
shows about the codec:
debian audio

I would install alsa-tools-gui. Then try to sort it out with the tool hdajackretask provided in alsa-tools-gui. Show some screenshots of that tools settings. Then I could get a better idea of what is up.
