I cannot find the way to enable the battery to show percentage, I have no problems with the GUI and the battery is shown but I cannot see the status.

Can you right click on the plasmoid, select "Battery and Brightness Settingsâ¦", then select "Show percentage"?

No, I have tried that, but the option doesn't appear.

I guess Ubuntu is shipping an older version of Plasma. I'm running Arch, which has the latest version, so I can't replicate this issue. You could also try asking on the KDE forum if you get nothing useful here. They are usually quite helpful.
