Is it important to use consistent java version alternatives?

I recently updated my JRE and a question came to mind.

I finally understood how alternatives work, so I successfully updated my alternatives for java and javac to the newest downloaded version. Last time I updated it I just copy pasted the update-alternatives --install and --config commands and did not understand the purpose of them.I feel very proud of being able to understand how symbolic links are used to keep the system robust and able to switch back and forth between alternatives. Yay Me!

However, I noticed that you can actually provide alternatives for several java bins, such as javah javap javadoc javaws jinfo ... etc.

I was wondering, is it important to add alternatives for all those bins? I think it might help out preventing some inconsistencies while using diferent JRE versions.

Is it relevant? at which point is my computer using those bins? is there any significant difference between the openJDK bins and the Oracle ones?
