I'm experimenting with shrinking a partitiion used as LVM PV in VirtualBox and have now hit a point where I do not understand what is going on.
I successfully shrunk the FS on my LV, then reduced the size of my LV and finally the size of my PV. Now would be the point to shrink the partition.

Using gparted, it shows me that the minimum size is 23027 MiB. See gparted screenshot. I've underlined the minimum size in red for non German speakers.
From the output of the pvs command, however, it shows me that the PV size is 22524 MiB. See pvs output.

My problem is now that I do not understand how gparted calculates the minimum size. I want to understand this for the case when I only have fdisk or the like available where I can only delete and recrate the partition in the correct size.
In this example, if I were to resize the partition manually, I would make the newly created partition too small (25524 MiB) according to gparted.

I know that one can simply choose to be on the safe side an add a little bit of extra space but I want to understand what's going on.
