I have a laptop with a 4k screen and optimus intel/nvidia graphics running fedora 27 with everything fully updated. I installed the nvidia drivers from the rpmfusion repo and have been happily using them for a while. Everything seems to work right out of the box including prime synchronization.

Sometimes, for battery life savings I would like to disable the nvidia gpu and re enable the nouveau driver. I have followed the instructions at https://rpmfusion.org/Howto/NVIDIA#Switching_between_nouveau.2Fnvidia .

My issue arises because after rebooting and removing those two boot parameters gnome3 freezes after log in. Everything loads up properly but once I enter my password I just get a frozen gray screen. I cant switch to a console or do anything besides hold down my power button to power my machine off.
