I have a problem with both my control keys. I decided to make a linux machine. I have previously a dual boot with Linux Mint and Windows 10, now I have only Kali. The thing is, the control keys (both left and right) worked just fine but now they seem to not be detected at all. I have tried almost every solution online, and the problem for me seems to be that the keys are not detected at all.
I used xev
but without any luck, they just do not have a code associated.
I've also tried running Manjaro, Linux Mint (again), Lubuntu and none of them have the keys working. It almost seems to be a hardware problem, but I think it is rather strange to affect both control keys at the same time, in the exact moment I install Linux.
[edit #1] I'm not able to remap any other key to the control keys, could this be a kernel error?

Provide error messages, do not say "it didn't work".

It doesn't produce any output. Furthermore, whenever i try to run xev and then press any of the control keys it seems to not be recognized. Every single key and touchpad button works, except for the control ones.

do they function in the virtual console or are they broken there too? (you probably need to usesudo chvt 3
to switch, but tryCtrl+Alt+F3
first.)
