How to resume system (from disk) manually

I suspend the system to disk using s2ram. When I reboot into shell (busybox sh) and run resume $SWAP ($SWAP is my swap partition), it only writes a message that says resume is started but nothing happens.

I tried echo test_resume > /sys/power/disk && echo disk > /sys/power/state to test suspend to disk and it resumes without problem.

I am using custom Linux configuration and initramfs containing just busybox (but I can change both of them).
