I currently have the problem that when starting my Debian Linux, I get an "Oh no! Something has gone wrong."-screen.
When I press ctrl-alt-F2 I can read /var/log/messages
, which says, among other things:
gnome-session-binary[700]: WARNING: software acceleration check failed: Child process exited with code 1
/usr/lib/gnome-session/gnome-session-check-accelerated-gl-helper: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object files: No such file or directory
(similar error with libGLESv2.so.2)
How can I tackle this problem?
I found this: https://packages.debian.org/search?suite=buster&arch=amd64&mode=filename&searchon=contents&keywords=libGL.so.1
There are some libraries starting with "libGL" in /usr/lib/x86_64_linux-gnu
and usr/lib/nvidia/current/
, but no libGL.so.1
. I reinstalled the package libgl1-mesa-glx
, but I didn't notice any difference after a reboot.
My PC is a laptop with NVidia Optimus. Maybe the system update was incompatible with some changes I did to get the discrete graphics card to work. But I still can't get a graphical log-in, when I enable the (exclusively) integrated graphics mode in the BIOS.
