I was provided a docker container which I successfully deploy in my mahcine. However, when I tried to open eclipse inside the container I cannot find a way to redirect the screen to my fedora 28.

Based on https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/359244
I tried the following command, and shows the following error:

docker run -e XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/tmp
-e WAYLAND_DISPLAY=$WAYLAND_DISPLAY
-v $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/$WAYLAND_DISPLAY:/tmp/$WAYLAND_DISPLAY
--user=$(id -u):$(id -g)
mydockercontainer eclipse

enter image description here

It seems a problem for writing permissions. Note that the user in the docker container is root, while the user in my machine is not.

  • Did you try the -configuration option as advised in the message?

  • I installed x11docker[github.com/mviereck/x11docker] and I managed to redirect display to my host machine. However, If I tried to use the workspace directory located in the docker container I got the following error: [imgur.com/a/v4pOgE2]. What it seems to me is a problem with permissions, but not sure how to fixed them, any idea?

  • @Panther. I do not want to change the path, I want to use the path inside the container. But I do not know how to set the permissions
