With lightdm, you can run dm-tool switch-to-greeter to start a new X11 session on a new tty, and then use Alt + Ctrl + F7 and Alt + Ctrl + F8 to switch between the two sessions (e.g. one for 'home' and one for 'work').

Is there a way to configure this in lightdm.conf or similar so that the two sessions are available from boot, so you don't need to log in to the first session in order to start the second?
