Unable to find network with wifi-menu

I am trying to connect to an open wifi network with wifi-menu from netctl. when I run



sudo wifi-menu wlan1


the network I want is not listed, but a lot of wpa2 secured networks are listed. I believe there should be a number of unsecured networks.



When I run



sudo iw dev wlan1 scan


I see a couple of unsecured networks along with the network I want wrbguest
